A storybook setting - the view from Neuschwanstein Castle
|
Welcome! This website serves as a record of my first solo travels in Europe, not a small feat for this small town Texas girl. While many people from the U.S. travel to Europe each year, not everyone considers their travel an adventure. A couple of my tour buddies decided to jump off a mountain in Germany--remarkable, but a little too much adventure for me. Having never previously traveled or flown anywhere by myself (the words "wide-eyed" or "naive" might be appropriate here) a big part of my adventure involved managing to get there and back by myself, immersing myself in countries where I did not speak the local language and traveling with complete strangers. For me, this constituted an adventure. |

I named this website "A Taste of Europe" because this particular Rick Steves tour was a perfect sampling, or taste, of each destination. A couple of spectacular days spent in each location, and then it was time to move on. A little bit difficult for those who try to do it all, but perfect inspiration for those same people who dream of adventures not yet taken. The title also had a lot to do with the many delicious foods we tasted, most specialties of the particular region we were visiting.

A couple of notes about this site. At any time, you may click on the "A Tase of Europe" banner to come back to this home page. You also may click on the smaller images to view in a larger format. Unless you have lots of time, this site is best avoided over a dial-up connection. |
