Our German and Austrian adventure began with a stop at Lindau, Germany. We ate lunch and enjoyed some much needed time away from the bus. Back on the bus, we continued on the picturesque roads to our hotel just outside of Reutte, Austria. Although we slept in Austria, we drove back into Germany to visit the castle and do a bit of luging. We crossed the border between the two countries so many times that eventually we stopped counting! What I'll never forget : strolling through Lindau, Germany on the way to the hotel • encountering my fear of heights on Mary's Bridge to get a couple of pictures of the castle • free Internet • learning about “little kisses” (bumping other vehicles) from our bus driver, Mathieu • reflective time spent wondering around Reutte by myself, hoping I'd remember how to get back to the hotel • my own room • the not-so-easy hike up to Mary's Bridge with Glen and Linda • our hostess at the hotel, Gabby, encouraging us explore local churches and graveyards to better understand its people •
My favorite foods : chocolate (again), all of the hearty, home cooked food

Remember when I said this was an adventure? Well, I'm pretty much terrified of heights, but I really wanted a couple of spectacular pictures of the castle. To take the picture, one must go onto a narrow bridge filled with lots of crazy, non terrified people. I inched my way onto the (what seemed to me) rickety bridge. Just when the castle came into view, I snapped my pictures and planted my feet back on solid ground. See the tiny bridge in the photo below?
